Lots of various goings on in my five month absence from updating this website. Late summer brought the release of 2002: A Doom Odyssey. I managed to contribute one level to this DOOM megawad. My usual meager contribution to be a part of the great wad sets out there. I'm officially off the Mordeth team for now. This is not really a recent development. Nothing has come out of my ideas pipeline for Mordeth in about eighteen months. I've got one good level near done and may possibly rejoin to finish the level when the focus returns to episode 3. So I replaced the inactive Mordeth link to a forward link to Paul Corfiatis's 2002 ADO website.

Some aware FTP /incoming watchers may have noticed I uploaded version 2.0 of The Classic Episode. I'm definately one of those designers that never seems to be completely finished and happy with my work (I could pick a handful of levels I'd love to go back and tweak for instance..). Classic Episode was one of those wads I just couldn't resist and had lists of desired changes hanging around for months. Now that I'm done with version 2.0 I can say I am truly done and happy with The Classic Episode. I guess you could say it's a "directors cut". I unofficially refer to it as "Classic Complete". The wad is more so unchanged because most was good to begin with. As such there is only minor architecture and gameplay tweaks. So I only suggest redownloading if your a definitive wad collector, or looking for the best gameplay experience (esp. with -fast and other alternative gameplay modes), or maybe just wanting the latest and greatest. Head to the Classic Episode page for a link.

And while my appreciation for editing, time for it, and ideas continue to dwindle I still plan on making one more hardcore contribution. Still not sure what form it will take. I probably won't know until it exists. ;-)

I managed some time to finally put together my "Top Ten Single Player Wads of 2001" feature. Go to the features sections to read it.

I'm back, and this time it's to take a first look at Chris Hansen's "CH Retro Episode". Go to my features sections to check it out.

Speaking of Chris Hansen and DOOM type levels I contributed 1 level to Paul Corfiatis's DOOM 2002 ADO project. The map, with my usual e1/e2 trademark tinge should show up as e4m2 in the final release. Here are two shots:

Got another secret project I'm working on. Whenever the next update comes it should be released with it. No hype, just quality goods. So until next time...waaaait! Are you hit number 10,000 ? Ok, just checking. :)

Finally, finally I have the updated version of Slayer. Download it from Arioch's space. Thanks again to Arioch for providing some temporary hosting solution. I also want to personally thank Anders Johnsen for helping with the bug reports. And I just want to remind everyone that this is Richard Wiles last DOOM piece...So thank him for his time and efforts...(email here)

In the past week I've really learned how much hotmail and freeservers suck ass. Hotmail has a 1 meg email limit and I couldn't recieve Rich's emails containing Slayer zip despite it only being 802kb large. So I had Rich send it to my friend who in turn tried to upload it to my webspace and then his freeservers webspace. Both times it halted midway through saying "quota had been met". Now, supposedly freeservers has a 20 meg limit (which btw I'm no where near). My friend thinks they might have a limit on file size uploads. Which is really, really lame. To top it off I'm pissed because they used to have no pop-up banners...but now they are appearing. GRR. If I wasn't so adament about maintaining one URL and email I'd change in seconds..

Enjoy Slayer...and I should have some personal content later this month or early next month. Remember to email Richard!

7:41 p.m.: Due to an overwhelming amount of bugs noticed in Slayer.zip I have taken the link down. Richard apparently rushed the release and compiled it faulty...Hopefully there will be a new version I feel comfortable with...

It's here kids! The best release since The Darkening Episode 2: Slayer has been released! Richard Wiles really has outdone himself. 15 intense and beautiful levels. The action is never-ending. See for yourself: Go to the Slayer page for screenshots, downloads, and more info. Thanks to Arioch for providing some temporary hosting while I figure out whats wrong with the darken ftp.

You've probably noticed I did a small site redesign. I think the page is cleaner, crisper, and more straight forward. The wad pages have been updated to keep information relevant. I added Mordeth E3 to the wad menus below. The page isn't up, but it's something I'm planning for another update. I decided to remove my links page and instead link to a more comprehensive page - Doug Merrill's links.

I've got some content myself. First is a featurette I did entitled "Top Ten SP Wad Releases of 2000". That's pretty self-explanatory I think. I've searched my wad CD to find my personal favorites of 2000. There is comments and screenshots. Check it in the Features Section. Second is a cooperative movie Laszlo Vecsei (Waldon) and I did for The Classic Episode. It's of us running the complete episode with 100/100%. We did some other demos too which I'll release in a later update including 2 player individual maps runs and a few 3 player demos with Bahdko. Some great stuff. It desynchs in E2M8 with the current Timer exe but works fine with the latest prboom and, of course, doom 1.9 exe. Download Cl_Movie.zip
